On the subject of "elegance" and the return to "self-made style"...
I may only be speaking for myself, but I personally don't want to walk around looking like someone's art project.
The return to handmade, one-off or small-production goods should be an opportunity to display high levels of skill, fine finish, and incredible attention to detail. Anyone can put some beads on a string and call it a necklace. I'm not knocking said necklaces, I'm just saying if I can do it myself, I WILL do it myself; I probably won't pay for it.
It's real craftsmanship, the stuff that takes almost a lifetime to learn and perfect--and which an automated assembly-line method of production could never replicate--that Elegance is all about.
