My American mother always remarks on how Irish (and British) girls seem to wear black tights every day and with everything.

I admit that it gets a bit tiresome, seeing the endless parade of jewel-toned Oasis or A/Wear dresses with black tights, like some kind of working-girl-on-the-town uniform.
